The Bulletin of the Society of Ornamental Turning
The Society of Ornamental Turning (SOT) was founded in London, England (birthplace of the great Holzapffel company) in 1948. The society was founded with the aim of fostering and developing the art and craft of ornamental turning. The SOT is a fantastic resource to all souls interested in OT, and membership is highly advised. In August of 1949, the infant SOT issued its first journal, The Bulletin of the Society of Ornamental Turners. The index for this bulletin, from inception through the first twenty issues or so, is presented just a click away. (I am working with the SOT to update this index to include all bulletins.)

Actual issues of the bulletin are highly sought after by members and collectors due to their excellent content, often explaining the finer points of OT work and providing the flavor of the "early days" of OT turning in this century. Bulletins are most often found at SOT auctions and sometimes at public auctions, most often in England.

The SOT continues to publish its bulletins today, at the rate of two per year, and they are received automatically with membership. At the time of this writing (March 1996), there are 94 issues in total.
